Does anyone know of companies that offer telepresence to the public? I have a need to run a worldwide strategy workshop and want to see if I can make it happen by telepresence.

Thanks!

lumpy, Do you think that companies like Pangeair will adopt telepresence systems and in the near future we will be able to use it for meetings?
I mean for example, if I am a salesman and want to discuss with my customer about something, will I be able to contact him by one of those rooms?

St.Johnathan, they're doing that already! Just started a few months ago on a scale that is "doable". Tata is renting rooms they have already with 100 more scheduled to be built I think it is, and companies like Regas are already taking room reservations. I'll tell ya' - if your a salesman and you get your connections lined up correctly, can you imagine the pay raise or promotion when you show the boss the ROI by NOT having to fly/hotel/car/meals? Plus the "green" aspect.

Hi Lumpy,
Let us see, How market respond to Public room business model.
Having the Telepresence experience without owning the complete infra solution & saving time/money spending in terms of actual travel. Above all social Green aspect.
It seems to be success story in present scenario!!

I see Tata added a bunch of Cisco Telepresence Rooms to their portfolio in the last week.

Good news for the entire industry!

Polycom joined the wagon of Public TelePresence services model.

From news source “As part of the program, organisations can hire a RPX or TPX facility on either an hourly or monthly subscription-based rental plan.
Site rental is available in seven APAC cities (Singapore, Sydney, Beijing, Tokyo, New Delhi, Seoul and Hong Kong), with more locations planned later this year.”

I did not find this news on Polycom official web site, with room rental, traffic plan details as it was readily available in case of other similar other service providers.
