After years of use in academia and industry -- not to mention sci-fi movies, the technology, which mixes real-world elements with computer-generated images, is showing up wherever there's a webcam. "Augmented reality" may sound like indecipherable technobabble, but the concept behind this technology is familiar to anyone who has seen any of the "Terminator" movies.
