Well....
A long answer made short....
I believe that Telepresence will change the way businesses, and eventually everyday people will communicate.
With airlines in trouble, fuel prices skyrocketing, etc. - it make sense that business would hold Telepresence meetings instead of flying, instead of burning fuel and wasting precious time.
I also believe that in a few years - ordinary people like you and me will use or HD TV's to have a Telepresence conference with Grandma, friends and family across the country.
Mind you, telepresence has some human elements to it, kinda' like video conferencing on steroids. You can see peoples eyes, read their mannerisms, almost like "being there". That's what separates it from video conferencing today.
Cisco and other heavyweights have set aside some huge money to push Telepresence lately, and one of the biggest problems (real time video and bandwidth) have finally come to the present. So I believe over the next few years, it will be a big, big deal and its time has come.

And the answer above doesn't even touch on the medical aspects either....
Imagine some poverty stricken kids that can see a doctor 5,000 miles away. Telepresence surgery, telepresence doctors, nurses, etc.
It's already happening Zuly...
