View Full Version : Could You Add a Shoutbox?

Hi there

I see that when i am online, somebody is always online with me and it would be nice to contact them live, so a shoutbox would be cool. What do you guys think?

Uhh.. i second zuly.. its vb.. you can have tons of good and easy to install shoutboxs.. it'll give the forum a little more life..

Well.... I haven't decided yet on a shoutbox.

Seems to defeat the purpose of a forum, no?

Everything I'm reading says "no" - that it will just be a spam free for all but I'll hold off on that decision for now. As we grow in the next few months, I'll let the forum users decide if we should install it, or no... Maybe put it for a vote in 60 days or so?

I think adding a shotubox or chat increases the load of your servers, That means reducing the sites performance for no apparent value to your site..Actually chatters dont contribute to your forums content so I think that will be a bad idea..but if you can afford the bandwidth then it is okay

Well there's a lot of update on shout box for vb. As far as load on a server is concerned, we can set up a SB only on a main page and set it to delete shouts from the page every 30 minutes or an hour or so...

yeah shoutbox is a big help to forum..hope you can install an sb here..
