Could we think of something? like an incentive or a forum currency that can buy something here? Like any new born forum, we need to boost members and also retain them for a long time.

something like that
some stuff connected or related with telepresence would be great

Yes, I think it's a nice idea set Telepoints if they can be used for something.

It may incentive a lot of people to come and stay on the forum.

It will make people randomly post many worthless topics to get "points" usable toward nothing in particular.

What sort of related 'stuff'?

Actual telepresence units, cameras, codec's, etc.

I've been thinking, what if somebody (like me) was ready to buy a unit - where would you even begin? Not talking big Telepresence Rooms, but a desktop unit, or something for the office. I'm sure it's right around the corner at Best Buy, but nothin' yet....

For buying something at Best Buy, if I was going to home brew a system that was more or less permanent at my home office, here is what I would do.

Black out my windows!
Buy a projection tv (the 73" variety) with half screen picture in picture.
If I had extra money, get a lifesize codec. If I had no money left after buying the TV, buy a web cam.
Skype out from el'cheapo computer
Data out from actual working computer (using one of the million free data sharing software packages out there)
Put the camera on a tripod or microphone stand and put it smack dab at eye level.


The problem with an allinone unit is that the camera will be attached, making it set top an quite bad if you have a big tv.

No, more like "online shopping". I see a big hole in the market now till the big boys come to play at the user level....

The website (305 of them) are picking up a slew of traffic, but I keep getting e-mails on just how do you buy a unit?

I dont really think this incentives thing will work.
But I recommend VBexperience to decide the most active members and reward them.

But i dont really think incentives is a good idea
