I'm still not sure why the cost of products are running in the quarter million dollar range. A smart person would realize that a WHOLE market is being missed.

You have the "camera on a tv", that we can call the Yugo of the VC world. Then you have the RPX, Halo, Cisco's unit, etc., that we can call the Ferrari.

Where is the Toyota? Certainly a lower cost yet elegant solution can be made, but no one is doing it. Companies want to follow the leader and aren't thinking "outside the box" (a term which I hate, but is necessary to use here).

A solution can absolutely be in the $100,000 or less range and actually be better than what's out there (architecture-wise). Who will step up to fill this huge, overlooked void?

Machtig at DVE has a bunch of units in the 35 - 85K range....

Given, they're not set up as "10 people rooms", but still 2-4 people telepresence "experiences" including monitors and furniture....

I'm not convinced that 10+ people per room is the best way to go. For classroom situations, that's fine. Meetings that I'm involved in rarely have more than 6-8 key people.

I think that a more "cozy" setup, up to four participants per room utilizing a much smaller footprint where you don't have to modify the existing room architecture is a good direction.

Anyone care to guess who just stepped up?
