Integrated System
The TPT Conference system incorporates the 3D TelePresence optical display with integrated lighting, infrared repeater, sound system and housing for a 50” to 52” monitor, camera and codec.
Easy to Move
With an all aluminum enclosure and structural frame the unit is lightweight enough to be easy to move. The large casters roll smoothly to make it possible to position the system within the room.
Safety Glass

The glass beamsplitter has special qualities of reflectivity and transparency to achieve the desired visual effect. The glass panel is laminated to provide safety in the work environment.
Wide Viewing Angle
The beamsplitter is much wider than the image area so that people sitting off the central axis can comfortably see the TelePresent participant.
Here are some images of the system being used. We have systems in 20 different countries.

What's with the background? Is it automatically generated or something built into the room?

The Background is used to give your mind a sense of depth. Our systems give you a sense of 3d as if the person was in the room for you. So the backdrop is reflected from the bottom and is used as a sort of depth que for your mind.
The glass is what does this. This also allows us to put the Camera down in the base and reflect the room off the glass down to a smaller mirror and then down to the camera giving you direct eye contact. This delivers a great effect when you are in a conference. While the sense of 3d is cool. Most of our customers tell us that their favorite feature is the eye to eye contact. After doing a conference with eye to eye contact you will noticed when you dont have the eye to eye contact on another system and you will wonder if the person is listening to you. If you are ever in the Dallas area I would be delighted to have you come by our offices for a demo on how it all works.
We are shooting a video that describes this in more depth on our room systems. We should have it edited soon and I will post it on this site so you can visually see what is going on.
In the 3rd picture down. You can see in the base of the unit where the graphic panels are located at.

What do the tinted side wings do? Is it to help the user "focus" on the image?

I think when you say tinted side wings. You are talking about the beam splitter glass that we use on the system. This glass allows us to reflect light and allow light though it. This is how we achieve the reflected backdrop and the eye to eye contact though the beam splitter.
So in some of those images where you are seeing the tinted side wings. This is where the glass is located at.
Does that answer your question?

It does. I figured they had some other use than to just "shade" the main viewing screen but didn't know exactly what.
Thanks!

Hello Corey
I was asked on a domain name forum the other day, just where do I believe "telepresence" is going. I told him I thought the sky is the limit. I'm not connected to the industry inner workings as you are. I'm getting there slowly, but you're an absolute insider that knows where it's been, you know where it's at, and maybe you can give us your thoughts on where YOU think telepresence is going in the next few years.
Thanks!

Hey,
I really am impressed with this telepresence...I haven't seen one up close yet, and so far this is the only place I can find with pictures and a lot of explanations. When you say it gives impression of eye-to-eye contact, do you mean it? I mean, is it "for real" or still "an impression"? What I'm trying to say is if we look at decades ago when they first introduce video conferencing, our impression at that time was we were actually talking to the person at the other end like in normal conference. After few times, we know that there are some delays which most of the time overlapped each other, such as delay in audio, delay in picture. and so on.
